Get ready for an inspiring Orientation and Mobility Adventure Day set in Brisbane’s vibrant Cultural Precinct! The day begins at Vision Australia Coorparoo, where children and young people will meet with our Allied Health team including Orientation and Mobility Specialists before travelling together by public transport to South Bank, building confidence, independence and real-world travel experience right from the start.
Each participant will attend with a family member or carer, who will join in the learning and exploration throughout the day. Other family members are also welcome to come along and share in the fun, making this a supportive and inclusive experience for everyone.
Once in the Cultural Precinct, participants will explore the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art, taking part in engaging, accessible workshops created in partnership with the galleries. These sessions spark creativity while supporting key skills such as spatial awareness, problem-solving and navigating large indoor environments.
Throughout the adventure, young people will practice essential orientation and mobility skills, navigating pedestrian areas, identifying landmarks, locating meeting points and using strategies to stay oriented in busy public spaces.
This fun and immersive day blends art, exploration and practical mobility learning, helping young people grow their travel confidence, strengthen their independence and feel more connected to Brisbane’s cultural spaces, all with the encouragement of family by their side.
